Empowering yourself with the Law of Attraction is about becoming more aware. You can train yourself to make conscious decisions about what you want. Changing life direction or improving a situation begins with a choice to do so.
24 X 7 Choice
One night I was in downtown Denver and passed Choice Market. The neon sign caught my eye. It read: “24 X 7 Choice.” I was struck by the simple but powerful message the universe was giving passersby. We are always able to choose our beliefs, emotions, thoughts, and actions. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we’re choosing our perspective and what we attract. The Law of Attraction never sleeps. Nothing has power over us – unless we allow it.
Liz Murray
The 2003 film Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story recounts the true-life experience of a woman who overcame extreme adversity. As a teenager faced with a dysfunctional family and unstable living conditions, she chose to persevere. After her mother’s death, Liz completed high school in two years and won a scholarship to Harvard.
Are you willing to persevere in reaching your goals and having what you want? Have you made that choice?
“I knew at that moment I had to make a choice… I could submit to everything and live a life of excuses, or I could push myself… I could push myself and make my life good…” – Liz Murray
Beyond Normal Limits
One of the main themes of the classic science fiction novel Ender’s Game is about persistence. Earth is at war with a mysterious alien race. Children are recruited into military service to combat the threat to humanity. Ender, the main character, is faced with an inescapable dilemma. He cannot avoid his duty to help in the war effort, yet he’s asked to endure unreasonable mental, physical, and emotional challenges to become the ultimate warrior. He has to make a choice.
Ender chooses to persist in his training because not doing so could mean the end of the human race. He pushes himself far beyond normal limits, brilliantly succeeding in accomplishing the impossible task of bringing the war to a close by the end of the novel. Ender proves that any goal can be reached if you persist and adapt.
Are you willing to change, learn, grow, and maybe face obstacles on the path to your goal?
“Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” – T. S. Eliot
What Would You Like to Experience?
Every July 3 is the anniversary of my Law of Attraction board game, Attract It! On that day in 2017 I sat down and began to write out my ideas for the game. But actually, creating Attract It! was, in part, the result of something I had done a year earlier. In the summer of 2016, I made a new choice that eventually changed my life direction.
At that time I was in transition and examining my work as a coach, teacher, and author. I decided to make a list of what I enjoyed doing: meditating, teaching, expanding my awareness, having fun, and being creative. Going inward, I looked deeply at what I loved to do with my time. I felt I deserved to express my abilities in a more satisfying and fulfilling way. I had never thought about a Law of Attraction board game. However, later on I realized that Attract It! involved all the things I truly enjoyed doing from my list!
What’s on your list? Do you know what activities or experiences would truly be fulfilling for you? Is there an area of your life you are dissatisfied with? What would you like to change? Make a list of what you would like to experience instead. Make a new choice and then take action.
Material Asymmetry
Sometimes we psych ourselves out. We can choose not to choose. On a daily basis we are confronted with what I call “material asymmetry.” Material asymmetry can be thought of as the material world, outward appearances, or three-dimensional reality. Basically, it means giving more power to the outer, physical world than to our own infinite ability to choose and take action.
This is understandable. The outer world can appear to be very intimidating. But what if that’s not the whole story? What’s visible to our physical eyes may only be 2 or 3% of reality…
Do you limit your possibilities by looking at the physical world, your body, or what’s happened to you in the past, and blindly accept that they have much more power than any new choices you can make? That’s like thinking the tip of an iceberg is all that’s there – when in fact, it’s part of a much larger object beneath the ocean surface. Material asymmetry can trick you if you let it. You can hypnotize yourself into thinking that you’re limited when actually, you have infinite capability.
“It’s choice – not chance – that determines your destiny.” – Jean Nidetch (Founder of Weight Watchers)
Remember: You Always Have a Choice
You are choosing your life 24/7. Remember, you always have a choice – and that choice is the power to choose. You can choose your beliefs, emotions, thoughts, and actions consciously. You choose the meaning you give to your life experiences. Ultimately, you do choose what you attract. Remember to choose wisely. As a society, I hope we all choose a world of good health, love, and abundance for everyone. We have that power.
“Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.” – Voltaire
